Modifying Paperback Covers for Hardcover Books

The space you have to work with for the front and back paperback and hardcovers is similar. However, you will need to move the front and back cover content outward horizontally to allow for the additional spine bleed width.

The three images below represent the following:

1. Overall size increase from paperback template
2. Hardcover template on top of the paperback cover to illustrate the adjustments needed
3. How the cover template looks after making the adjustments

The gray and white area around the cover shows the increase in the overall size from a paperback cover to a hardcover.

Notice the back cover text needs to be shifted left and the front cover text needs to be shifted right.

Final cover layout after adjustments are made.
